Installation & Relocation

New Kiln Installation: Set up, and test new kilns, including connecting them to ventilation systems.

Kiln Moving:

Safely move existing kilns from one location to another, which often requires careful disassembly and reassembly.

Studio Design and Setup:

For larger operations, I assist with designing and setting up entire studio spaces, including the layout of kilns and other equipment.

Maintenance

Kiln Inspections: This is a crucial service that involves a multi-point inspection of the kiln's components, such as wiring, elements, relays, thermocouples, and firebrick, to identify potential issues and ensure safe operation. These can be done in-person or virtually.

Routine Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance, such as checking and tightening electrical connections, repairing brickwork, and testing safety controls, to extend the life of the kiln and prevent costly breakdowns.

Diagnose and fix a wide range of problems, from replacing heating elements and controllers to repairing or replacing the refractory lining (firebrick).

Help identify the root cause of kiln problems, whether overfiring, underfiring, or a complete failure to heat. This can be done in-person or through phone-based or virtual consultations.

Standard Service Zone (20-40 miles)

• Fee: $35

Regional Service zone (40-60 miles)

• Fee: $45

Long-Distance Service (>100 miles)

I quote these on a case-by-case basis.

• Fee: Quote upon request.

• Regional Base + 73 cents per mile

Hourly Service Rates — $40

Standard Hourly Rate: $40/hour. For

rebuilds, brick replacement, and 'electric overhauls' services are provided at a $60/hour rate. Please make inquiry for a proper qoute.

Emergency Service: $75 - $100/hour

For after-hours, urgent, or weekend service requests requiring immediate attention. The higher end of the range is for truly critical or inconveniently timed calls.
